One Step at a Time

One Step at a Time

I have so much to do but I can’t do it!

You wake up at 7 o’clock on a Saturday morning and start to think about all of the things you need to get done for the day but for some reason you can’t get out of bed.

You tell yourself, “ten more minutes then I will get up”, but then the ten minutes become thirty minutes, thirty minutes becomes an hour and next thing you know, it’s noon by the time you get out of bed.

You want to get out of bed but you feel like you physically can’t so what can you do?

How do you motivate yourself to get out of bed and begin your day?

The solution is simple-get up and do one thing, by changing your environment.

If you physically don’t want to do your “to-do-list,”  go and sit on your patio or a different room that you don’t normally gravitate towards. This is just one small step of getting yourself up and out of bed for the day.

Do this until it becomes a routine and when it feels like you can’t leave your home, take walks or go to your favorite location.

Do it in small steps such as a walk around the block for a week, and the following week increase your distance to a few blocks.

The goal is to change your environment so it doesn’t feel like you are stuck. Always start small and build to your comfort levels.

No one can just start struggling to get out of bed one day to sitting in a coffee shop the next day. That can feel overwhelming and you will want to just go back to bed.

So, start small and sit in your living room one day and the following, go sit on your patio or deck. You will notice one day that you can easily get out of bed and start your to-do-list with minimal difficulty.

Start with one thing, and you will be amazed at how that small change can make a big difference in your day!

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all that lies ahead of you, but know that ANYTHING is possible, if you just take it One. Step. At. A. Time.  Once you take that step, take another.  Before you know it, you will accomplish all that you need to, and possibly more.
